Reproduction Examinations and Follow-ups

Reproduction Examinations and Follow-ups

Pre-breeding checks are routine ultrasound scans of the uterus, ovaries, and other examinations to determine the optimal time to breed. This evaluation normally includes ultrasound scans, vaginal evaluation, and all the follow-ups in order to ensure the most accuracy of breeding. Each mare is treated to suit her needs and/or difficulties according to each animal's individuality.

Artificial Insemination (A.I.) On-Site

The process of Artificial Insemination (A.I.) is the process to breed horses either fresh, cooled, or frozen, which will be a completely artificial process to breed the horses and deposit the semen inside the mare's uterus.

The service will be provided at the client's property, decreasing the hassle and providing a stress-free environment without moving to another facility.

Benefits of A.I.

  • Decreased risks associated with live cover and potential STDs
  • Improving quality of semen on some sub-fertile stallions
  • Decreased uterine infections
  • More accurate timing of breeding
  • Possibility of using stallions worldwide to improve breeding capabilities

Embryo Transfer (E.T.)
Embryo Transfer (E.T.)

Embryo Transfer (E.T.)

Embryo transfer is a service where embryos are collected from a donor mare (bloodline type or special) and then transferred to a recipient (surrogate) mare which will carry this foal to term without any genetic interference from the surrogate animal.

The E.T. process involves A.I. of the donor mare and then, 6 to 8 days post-ovulation (depending on veterinarian recommendation), the donor mare is flushed through a uterine flush to retrieve an embryo if present. At the same time, the surrogate recipient mares are synchronized at the same pace of the estral cycle.

The recipient mare will be checked between 12 to 14 days (embryo age) to determine confirmation. Follow-up will be done at 30 days of pregnancy to ensure the embryo has a heartbeat and viability confirmation. Follow-ups on these mares are necessary every couple of weeks until 2 months, which is the critical period.

Benefits of Embryo Transfer

  • Donor mares can continue their training and competition programs
  • Used on mares unable to carry a pregnancy due to health issues
  • All services done in-house at client's facility

Pregnancy Management

We will be assisting and consulting farms throughout the season with close follow-ups on these facilities. The service will be monitored throughout the entire pregnancy period to decrease the chances of losses during pregnancy, plus all consulting during the pregnancy period to ensure the best results and full-term pregnancy.

Management of Sub-Fertile Mares

Management of Sub-Fertile Mares

Challenge mares are what drive us to reach excellence. We will be dealing with different types of the most advanced treatments to solve or at least decrease sub-fertility in order to reach a successful offspring.

Semen Collection, Manipulation, Shipping and Freezing

Our fully equipped mobile laboratory will take care of all stallion needs to ensure the full condition and health of stallions in reproduction. We offer a full range of semen evaluation, processing, and cryopreservation in order to manage the studs to the best breeding capabilities.

All stallion evaluation and breeding soundness will be performed on-site, including semen collection, handling, and manipulation for shipping and/or freezing. Semen evaluation will also be provided to determine the soundness of the stallion used for breeding.

Semen Storage

We can provide safe storage of your stallion's frozen semen, making sure your stallion's genetic material is not lost.

Foaling Assistance / Post-Foaling Care

Our team will be providing assistance with foaling and managing small complications during birth, providing initial care for newborn foals, as well as assessing the overall health of foals and mares after foaling.

It's important to keep in mind that the first days of a foal's life can be determinant for a foal's prospect. A close look at the farms will be done to ensure these foals are healthy and following the normal path to a healthy life.
